The Russian Army Intensified Assaults in the Pokrovsk and Hulyaipole Directions

In the past day, 263 combat clashes between Ukrainian defenders and Russian troops have been recorded at the front. This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of the morning of June 3.

Most Intense Fighting in the East and South

In the South Slobozhansky direction, Russian troops attempted to break through the Ukrainian defense four times, while in the Kupiansk direction, they made five attempts to advance. The Lyman direction was marked by 14 enemy assaults, and in the Kostiantynivka direction, the occupiers attacked 12 times. In the area of Sloviansk, 20 attacks were recorded, indicating high enemy activity in these sections of the front.

At the same time, in the Kramatorsk direction, Russian forces did not conduct offensive actions, which confirms the information from the headquarters.

Pokrovsk and Hulyaipole Directions Under Pressure

The General Staff emphasizes the Pokrovsk direction, where Ukrainian forces repelled 40 assault attacks in the areas of Rodynske, Vasylivka, Novooleksandrivka, Hryshyne, Udaine, as well as near Stepiv, Ivanivka, Serhiivka, Shevchenko, and Dorožne. In the Oleksandrivka direction, seven attacks by Russian troops were recorded.

“In the Hulyaipole direction, the occupiers carried out 44 attacks in the areas of the settlements of Dobropillia, Zlahoda, Zaliznychne, Olenokostiantynivka, Pryluky, and towards Vozdvizhivka, Verkhnia Tersa, Hulyaipole, Charivne, Tsvitkove, Hirke,” the report states.

In the Orikhiv direction, defense forces stopped three enemy attempts to advance, and two more attacks were repelled in the Dnipro direction.

According to analysts from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), from December 2025 to May 2026, Russian troops captured a total of 40.64 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory but lost 281.1 square kilometers.

Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov noted on May 21 that Ukrainian forces managed to significantly slow down the advance of Russian troops and even began to seize the initiative thanks to the effective work of the military, the disabling of Starlink for the aggressor, and the strengthening of medium-range drone strikes.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized in a video address on May 25 that Ukraine currently has stronger positions at the front.
