Preventive Measure Changed for the Official

According to the decision of the investigating judge made on March 16, the suspect was assigned a preventive measure in the form of bail amounting to 2.5 million hryvnias. However, considering the existence of additional risks, the prosecutor of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office appealed to the appellate court to strengthen the preventive measure — proposing detention with the right to post bail of 19 million hryvnias.

As a result, the Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court partially granted the prosecutor’s complaint and established a new bail amount of 6 million hryvnias. The other provisions of the investigating judge’s decision remained unchanged.

Case Circumstances and Suspects

According to information, this concerns the Southern Machine-Building Plant, and the suspicion was announced specifically against the first deputy general director of the enterprise, Kostyantyn Zavhorodny.

“The investigation established that the scheme was organized by the first deputy general director of the plant.”

In March of this year, employees of the Security Service of Ukraine, together with detectives from the National Anti-Corruption Bureau, uncovered a scheme for embezzling nearly 20 million hryvnias of state funds at one of the strategic enterprises of the defense industry complex in the Dnipropetrovsk region. According to the investigation, the first deputy head of the plant is indeed involved in organizing the criminal scheme.
