Implementation of New Tariffs for Russia and Its Partners

Donald Trump noted that the United States is prepared to impose secondary tariffs against the Russian Federation and its partners if an agreement on a peaceful resolution to the situation in Ukraine is not reached within 50 days. According to Trump, the tariff rate could reach 100%.

“It’s very simple. And they will be 100 percent (tariffs – UNIAN). It may be simpler, but that’s exactly how it is. I hope we won’t have to do this.”

Details of Arms Supply to Ukraine

The US President announced that NATO and the US Permanent Representative to the Alliance, Matthew Whitaker, will coordinate the process of transferring American weapons to Ukraine. According to Trump, the European Union will cover the costs of the supply, while the US will focus on weapon production.

Trump emphasized that during a previous meeting with European leaders, an agreement was reached to increase defense spending to 5%, which amounts to over a trillion dollars per year. The US President stressed that European countries have sufficient resources to finance the supply of arms to Ukraine.

In addition, Trump announced the dispatch of 17 Patriot missile defense systems to Ukraine. According to him, most of these systems will be deployed on the battlefield soon. It is expected that the Patriot systems already in several countries will be replaced with new ones, and the coordination of this process will be carried out by Matthew Whitaker together with NATO. The first systems are expected to arrive in Ukraine within the next few days.
