Beginning of the Conflict and Shooter’s Actions
As noted by Ihor Klymenko, the tragedy began with a domestic conflict between the shooter, who lived on the fifth floor, and his neighbor from the sixth floor. He stated that Vasylychenkоv constantly recorded disputes with his neighbor on his mobile phone.
“Everything started with a domestic conflict. The shooter lived on the 5th floor. He had conflicts with a neighbor from the 6th floor,” said Ihor Klymenko during a conversation with journalists.
The minister does not rule out that initially the suspect did not plan to open fire but was recording the argument on audio, likely to have evidence in case of legal proceedings. However, the situation escalated: the first shots were fired near the entrance with traumatic weapons. After that, Vasylychenkоv returned to his apartment, took a carbine, set his dwelling on fire, and went outside, where he continued shooting.
Information on Gun Permit and Consequences of the Incident
Moreover, Ihor Klymenko reported that the suspect had a valid gun permit. Vasylychenkоv obtained the medical certificate for its renewal from a private clinic in December 2025. The minister emphasized that the certificate itself was genuine, but there were questions regarding the procedure for its issuance at the clinic.
On the evening of the same day, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated that 14 people were injured as a result of this terrorist attack, including a child. He also added that the suspect had previously been held criminally liable.
