State Special Transport Service Becomes the Customer for Protecting Ukraine’s Critical Infrastructure

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved a decision designating the State Special Transport Service, subordinate to the Ministry of Defense, as the official customer for works related to the protection of critical infrastructure.

Protection of the Country’s Strategic Facilities

This decision encompasses the organization of protection for key strategic facilities in the fuel and energy sectors, railway transport, as well as life support systems for critical infrastructure. The State Special Transport Service now has the right to order construction, reconstruction, repair, and other engineering and technical works to enhance the security of these facilities.

Furthermore, the service will be able to engage its own units to carry out relevant engineering tasks, allowing for a more rapid response to challenges related to infrastructure protection.

Acceleration of Engineering Works and Strengthening Security

The Ministry of Defense emphasized that these changes will facilitate the acceleration of engineering measures and enhance the protection of facilities upon which Ukraine’s stable functioning depends.

“The decision is expected to expedite engineering works and strengthen the protection of facilities essential for the country’s functioning,” stated the Ministry of Defense.

Previously, the State Special Transport Service had already been granted the right to construct and restore critically important defense infrastructure facilities without the need for additional permitting procedures. This significantly reduces the construction time for fortifications and other protective elements.
