Launch of the 108 Flowers Revised NFT Collection
It is known that the release of the NFT version of the cards will take place on July 31, 2025. This was personally announced by Takashi Murakami, who emphasized that cryptocurrency experience is not required to obtain the tokens. Users will be able to mint digital cards directly through the Base App, simplifying access to the collection for a wide audience.
“My collectible trading cards, inspired by my physical works, are now onchain. You can mint them right in @baseapp. No cryptographic experience needed. Just tap and start.”
The 108 Flowers Revised collection first appeared in January 2024 and consists of 12 sets of five cards each, created in the Japanese language. In the digital version, these cards will be available as NFTs on the Base platform. The price for one set is 0.0014 ETH (approximately $5).
Features and Background of the Project
It is currently unknown whether the NFT tokens will be linked to the physical cards or if the collections will remain independent of each other — this is a question the author has not commented on. It is known that Murakami gained fame for his unique superflat style, which he created to describe the characteristics of Japanese art. The artist believes that three-dimensional forms are not inherent to Japan’s national culture.
It is worth noting that the launch of the 108 Flowers Revised NFT cards is not Murakami’s first experience in Web3. He has previously collaborated with RTFKT on the CloneX project. However, in December 2024, RTFKT, a subsidiary of Nike, announced its closure. Subsequently, the CloneX collection faced technical issues, resulting in images disappearing from the tokens, and owners filed a lawsuit against Nike.
As a reminder, in July 2025, Coinbase completed the rebranding of its cryptocurrency wallet, transforming it into the super app Base App, which combines numerous features, including chat and transactions.
