Circumstances of the Beating and Consequences for the Victim
During the formation, the suspect publicly humiliated his fellow serviceman and then pulled him out of line. He then struck the victim on the head with his hands, causing him to lose consciousness. Taking advantage of the beaten soldier’s helpless state, the serviceman tied his hands behind his back with plastic zip ties and delivered at least 10 blows with his hands and feet to the head and face.
As a result of the beating, the victim sustained serious injuries, including a closed head injury, a concussion, numerous bruises, and hematomas.
Suspension and Escape of the Suspect
After committing the crime, the suspect soldier deserted his place of service and hid in the Kirovohrad region at his residence. It is known that he initiated the formation himself and cited his personal dislike for the victim as the reason for his aggression. He also ordered one of the soldiers to record the incident on video using a mobile phone.
“When the victim lost consciousness, the detained soldier tied his hands behind his back with plastic zip ties and, taking advantage of his helpless state, delivered at least 10 blows with his hands and feet to the head and face.”
