On the night of May 3, Russian forces carried out another massive shelling of the Odesa region, using the Iskander-M ballistic missile and 268 strike drones of various types. The main target of the attack was the civil and port infrastructure of the region.

According to Oleg Kiper, the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, two people were killed and five others were injured as a result of the enemy strike. Fires broke out due to the shelling, which were promptly extinguished by rescuers. All services are actively working to eliminate the consequences of the attack. Law enforcement agencies are documenting yet another war crime committed by the Russian Federation’s army against the civilian population of Odesa.

Details of the massive air attack and air defense operations

According to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, from 19:00 on May 2 to the morning of May 3, the enemy attacked Ukraine from various directions: Kursk, Shatalovo, Orel, Primorsko-Akhtarsk (RF), and temporarily occupied territories of Crimea and Donetsk. Among the drones used were types Shahed (160 units), Gerbera, Italmas, and others. A significant portion of the drones were shot down by air defense forces.

According to preliminary military data, as of 08:00, 249 enemy drones of various types were destroyed or suppressed in the northern, southern, western, and eastern regions of the country. There were also recorded hits from a ballistic missile and 19 strike drones at 15 locations, while debris from the downed drones fell in another location.

It is worth noting that this is not the first case of massive attacks on the region: on the night of April 26, Odesa also suffered drone shelling, resulting in damage to civil and port infrastructure, with one person injured.
