The number of victims of the terrorist attack that occurred on April 18 in the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv has risen — a man who sustained serious injuries during the attack has died in the hospital. The deceased was a local janitor, known by the residents of the building as a sincere and kind person.

Residents of the building fondly remember the janitor, known as “Uncle Sasha.” He not only performed his job but also actively engaged with the residents, always ready to help and support. After his death, his beloved cat was left without an owner. The animal now wanders the yard, while local residents feed it and look for someone who can take the cat in.
Details of the Terrorist Attack in the Holosiivskyi District
Recall that on April 18, a shooting occurred in the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv: initially, the attacker opened fire near a residential building, where four people were killed. Another victim died near a store, and another one in the supermarket where the criminal held hostages.
After unsuccessful negotiations with the perpetrator, the special forces unit KORD began an assault on the “Velmart” supermarket. At that time, the Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko arrived at the scene. At 6:00 PM, the attacker was neutralized, and the hostages were freed.
Number of Victims and Injured
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that 14 people were injured in the incident, including a child, and six people died. Subsequently, after the janitor’s death, the number of victims rose to seven. Before the attack, the criminal had set fire to an apartment and had previous convictions.
According to the city authorities, eight injured individuals from the attack remain in hospitals in Kyiv. All of them are receiving the necessary medical assistance.
