Russian Attacks Cause Mass Power Outages in Seven Regions of Ukraine

As a result of another wave of attacks by Russia on the night of October 15, consumers in seven regions of Ukraine were left without electricity. According to the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, enemy drone strikes once again damaged energy infrastructure facilities, leading to temporary power supply interruptions.

Emergency Shutdowns in Several Regions

Due to extensive damage to the energy system, emergency shutdowns were implemented for the population and businesses in Sumy, Kharkiv, Poltava, Dnipropetrovsk, and partially in Kirovohrad and Cherkasy regions. In the Zaporizhzhia region, emergency power supply was halted for part of the industrial enterprises. These emergency measures helped to minimize the load on the energy system and prevent more extensive outages.

Restoration of Power Supply and the Situation in Chernihiv Region

As of the morning, all unscheduled power outages in the listed regions have been lifted. However, in the Chernihiv region, hourly power supply schedules are still in effect – currently, three phases of hourly outages are being applied, which is a necessary measure to stabilize the situation.

“This is the result of systematic attacks by the enemy on the energy infrastructure of the region over the past few weeks. Emergency recovery work is ongoing.”

Energy sector specialists continue emergency recovery operations to fully restore stable power supply and strengthen the protection of energy facilities that are subject to systematic attacks.
