Russia has carried out another missile strike on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure

On the night of January 2, 2026, Russian forces once again attacked energy facilities in Ukraine, launching missile strikes on infrastructure in the Zaporizhzhia and Mykolaiv regions.

Situation in Zaporizhzhia and frontline regions

Following the nighttime shelling in the Zaporizhzhia region, including the city of Zaporizhzhia, a significant number of consumers were left without electricity. A similar situation is observed in other regions located near the frontline, where efforts to restore the energy system are ongoing.

Restoration work and weather-related consequences

In the Odesa and Kyiv regions, work continues to restore the energy infrastructure that was damaged during previous attacks. In the Odesa region, over 11,000 consumers remain without power. Additionally, due to severe weather conditions, 27 settlements in the Ivano-Frankivsk region and another 17 in the Lviv region have been left without electricity.

As of the morning after the shelling, consumers in the Zaporizhzhia region, including in the city of Zaporizhzhia, as well as in other frontline regions, remain without power.
