Ukraine is experiencing a significant increase in the production of cruise missiles. The Minister of Strategic Industries, Herman Smetanin, reported that two years ago, the country could only produce one type of cruise missile — the “Neptune”, but last year there was a substantial expansion of the range of new armaments, leading to a 700% increase in production volumes compared to 2023.

Development of the Defense Industry
As of the end of 2024, Ukraine has developed 324 new types of weapons worth $9 billion. The production of long-range drones has also increased by over 100% compared to 2023, and compared to 2022, the growth was 2100%. The defense industry contributed to a 33% growth in Ukraine’s gross domestic product (GDP) last year.
Overall, the Defense Complex increased its capabilities by 600% over the year, reaching a volume of $20 billion. The Minister noted that by the end of this year, the Ministry of Strategic Industries will be able to produce weapons and military equipment worth $35 billion.
“We are already seeing growth this year,” he emphasized.
Production for the Armed Forces
Advisor to the President of Ukraine on Strategic Issues, Oleksandr Kamyshin, noted that today, according to various estimates, between 30% and 40% of what equips the Armed Forces of Ukraine is produced in Ukraine.
