Cost of Basic Products in Egypt and Ukraine
In her Instagram profile, Nelya published the results of a mini-experiment, where she listed specific prices for popular goods and services. In particular, in Egypt, the prices for these products are:
- bread — 1–3 UAH;
- a bottle of water (1.5 L) — 6 UAH;
- bananas — 8–20 UAH per kilogram;
- mango — 25 UAH each;
- strawberries — starting from 20 UAH per kilogram.
At the same time, in Ukraine, these same products are significantly more expensive:
- bread — 34–40 UAH;
- water — 25 UAH;
- strawberries — 200 UAH per kilogram;
- mango — starting from 120 UAH each.
“In Egypt, fruits cost pennies,” the video author concluded.
Taxi Prices and User Reactions
The blogger also noted that using taxis in Egypt is significantly cheaper than in Ukraine. According to her calculations, a 10-15 minute ride in Egypt costs 40-80 UAH, while a similar route in Ukraine would cost 200-250 UAH. She emphasized that the ability to bargain can further reduce the cost of trips, making them almost free for tourists.
However, in the comments to the post, some users expressed doubts about the prices mentioned, highlighting that average salaries in Egypt are lower, and taxi prices may be higher than stated. Some pointed out that taxi fares in Ukrainian cities also rarely exceed 200 UAH, while others shared their own travel experiences to Egypt, claiming that prices there are not as low as they seem at first glance.
The comparison of the cost of living in Ukraine and Egypt sparked a lively discussion among the blogger’s followers, and the issue of prices remains relevant for many Ukrainians planning trips or relocating abroad.
