NFT Capitalization and Trading Metrics Plummeted

As of August 18, 2025, the capitalization of the NFT sector was $8.1 billion, according to NFT Price Floor data. This decline occurred against the backdrop of a general downturn in the cryptocurrency market, particularly the price of Ethereum, which is the primary platform for issuing and trading NFTs. In comparison, on August 13, the capitalization of NFTs reached $9.4 billion, showing a 40% increase compared to the end of July, as reported by DappRadar.

At the same time, according to CoinGecko, the capitalization of the NFT sector fell from $8.2 billion to $7.03 billion after August 14, representing a 16.6% decrease. This further confirms the negative trend in the non-fungible token market.

Additionally, there has been a decline in trading volumes and overall market activity in the NFT sector. More than half of all transactions occur on the Ethereum network, so the drop in the price of its native token directly affects the situation with NFTs.
