Chronology of the High-Profile Case Regarding the Supreme Court

Recall that in May 2023, NABU and SAP published data on the exposure of large-scale corruption in the Supreme Court of Ukraine. On May 16, 2023, the then head of the Supreme Court, Vsevolod Knyazev, and his accomplice-lawyer came under suspicion under Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – accepting an offer, promise, or receiving improper benefits by an official. Knyazev himself claimed the illegality of his detention.

In January 2024, a bail exceeding 18 million hryvnias was posted for Knyazev. At the end of 2024, the Grand Chamber of the Supreme Court ultimately upheld the decision of the High Council of Justice to dismiss Knyazev from his position as a judge of the Supreme Court.
