Lviv Delays Start of Heating Season Due to Russian Shelling

In Lviv, it has been decided to postpone the start of the heating season by a few weeks due to attacks by the Russian Federation on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. Mayor Andriy Sadovyi explained that this decision was made for the safety of the city’s residents and to ensure reliable preparation for the winter period.

“The situation in the country is such that for the next few weeks we cannot provide heating. We need to wait a bit to do everything correctly — so that it will be warm in winter,” Sadovyi wrote on Telegram.

Lviv Transitions to Testing Mode

The mayor urged residents to consider alternative heating sources and to assist those who cannot manage on their own. According to him, starting from October 11, Lviv will begin testing its life support systems. This year, for the first time, resources, mechanisms, and response efficiency will be checked simultaneously throughout the city.

Traffic Lights to Switch to Backup Power

As part of the preparations for potential emergencies, this weekend, Lviv plans to disconnect traffic lights from the main power supply and switch them to alternative sources. This will ensure that traffic regulation remains stable in the event of a blackout.
