Lviv City Council Provides Veterans with 100 Free Parking Hours per Month

The Lviv City Council has decided to introduce a new benefit for veterans — they will be able to use 100 free parking hours within the city each month. The mechanism for providing this benefit is to be developed by the executive committee of the city council in the near future.

Beneficial Approach for Veterans: Convenience and Absence of Bureaucracy

Mayor Andriy Sadovyi emphasized that the main goal of this initiative is to ensure convenient, simple, and stable access to parking spaces for veterans. Special attention will be paid to ensuring that obtaining the benefit does not involve unnecessary documentation or bureaucratic procedures. The city council is convinced that the modern parking system must meet the needs of residents, be constantly updated, and operate without interruptions.

“Therefore, this decision is about balance: respect for veterans and responsibility to the city,” explained Sadovyi.

Parking Funding and Benefit Limitations

All funds received by the city from parking and fines for violations are directed to support the Ukrainian military. At the same time, the number of veterans in the Lviv community exceeds the number of available parking spaces by 12 times. Thus, according to city authorities, the introduction of unlimited benefits could lead to prolonged occupation of spaces by individual vehicles. Therefore, setting a limit of 100 free hours per month helps maintain a balance between supporting defenders and the effective functioning of the city’s parking infrastructure.
