Most areas of Kyiv are at risk of being left without heating next winter. This was stated by the head of the Desnyansky District State Administration, Maksym Bakhmatov, during a broadcast on one of the television channels.

Scale of Destruction of Kyiv’s CHP Plants
According to Maksym Bakhmatov, as a result of constant missile attacks from the Russian Federation, the Darnytsia Combined Heat and Power Plant was completely destroyed, while CHP-6 suffered 80% damage. As a result, key areas of the capital that depend on these energy infrastructure facilities have been affected.
Bakhmatov clarified that CHP-6 provides heating for the Desnyansky, Obolon, and Dnipro districts, as well as part of the Darnytsky district. At the same time, CHP-4 is responsible for heating the Dnipro and Darnytsky districts. Due to damage to the energy system, over a thousand residential buildings in Kyiv did not receive heating by the end of the season.
Risk of Repeated Attacks on Energy Infrastructure
Maksym Bakhmatov emphasized that the threat of repeated Russian strikes on Kyiv’s energy facilities remains extremely high. He noted that even with significant investments in the restoration of CHP plants, these facilities remain vulnerable to further attacks.
“Kyiv’s CHP plants are a marked target for Putin. He has missiles. He will continue to strike at the CHP plants and he will finish them off. Even if 5 billion is invested. He will say: well done, and will strike again,” the official explained.
Thus, the next heating season for Kyiv residents could become extremely challenging if additional measures are not taken to protect and restore the city’s critical infrastructure.
