Kazakhstan Opens CryptoCity for Cryptocurrency Transactions

Kazakhstan has announced the creation of an experimental zone called CryptoCity, where the use of cryptocurrencies for purchases, payment for services, and other civil transactions will be permitted. This initiative was presented by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at an international conference, emphasizing that the project will be part of the country’s broader digital strategy.

Tokayev noted that Kazakhstan is demonstrating significant progress in the field of digital transformation. The CryptoCity initiative will be complemented by large-scale investments in infrastructure. Among the important innovations, the launch of the most powerful supercomputer in Central Asia, which has already been delivered to the country, is anticipated.

Innovative Development of Kazakhstan

The President emphasized that Kazakhstan aims to become an Eurasian academic and innovative IT hub. The republic plans to open branches of foreign universities and establish strategic cooperation in the fields of R&D and artificial intelligence.

The creation of CryptoCity reflects the government’s desire to reform the economy through the implementation of digital solutions. The project aims to simplify transactions, expand access to high-tech tools, and stimulate domestic IT entrepreneurship.

Socio-Economic Aspects

The head of state also emphasized that the government is focused on reducing regional disparities, developing the middle class, and strengthening human capital. Enhanced support for youth and high-tech industries with high added value remains at the forefront of government programs.

According to the official position, CryptoCity will serve as a testing ground for the legal integration of cryptocurrencies into Kazakhstan’s economy. The project will contribute to strengthening the country’s position as a regional leader in the field of digital finance and innovation.
