How Ukrainians Use the Program and Where They Travel
As of March 12, about 679,000 users of the “Ukrzaliznytsia: Train Tickets” app have joined the “3000 km Across Ukraine” program after completing mandatory verification through “Diia.Signature”. According to available statistics, the average distance of a single trip is 474 km. The most popular routes remain those from Kyiv to Konotop, Sumy, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, and Vinnytsia.
Free tickets under this program are available on over 60 pairs of long-distance passenger trains, and the company intends to further expand the list of available routes.
Ukrzaliznytsia reminded that the program only covers the cost of the journey itself, and additional services such as bedding or drinks must be paid for by the passengers.
Main Conditions and Opportunities of the “UZ-3000” Program
Under the government program, every Ukrainian receives a limit of 3,000 free kilometers for railway travel, which is sufficient for the longest journey, for example, from Zaporizhzhia to Uzhhorod and back. However, these kilometers can only be used on domestic routes — the program does not apply to international destinations.
It is important to note that the program does not cover SV (luxury) carriages, first-class “Intercity” trains, or suburban electric trains. Passengers can only use designated categories of carriages and long-distance trains.
In addition, Ukrzaliznytsia continues to expand the range of goods and services that can be ordered when purchasing tickets.
