Helsing Considers Ukraine a Key Market for Innovative Drone Production

The European defense startup Helsing sees significant potential in developing drone production in Ukraine and notes the high level of innovation in this field. According to the company’s co-founder Gundbert Scherf, Ukraine is demonstrating rapid progress in improving drone designs, which previously focused mainly on FPV drones but is now expanding to systems with a longer range.

Innovation and Scaling Drone Production in Ukraine

Scherf emphasized that the scale and pace of implementing cutting-edge solutions in drone production in Ukraine are truly impressive. In particular, hundreds of private initiatives in this sector are contributing to the rapid development of technologies that provide competitive advantages in the international defense market. Special attention has been given to the medium-range kamikaze drones HX-2, which are noted for their resilience to electronic warfare due to the application of artificial intelligence. If Helsing can establish mass production of these drones in Ukraine, it could significantly impact the situation on the battlefield.

Long-Term Cooperation with Ukraine

“We have long-term commitments with Ukraine. This is not some one-off demonstration project after which we will turn our backs and focus on something else. Ukraine is part of our company. It is at its core,” Scherf emphasized.

According to him, Ukraine has become a decisive factor in the establishment of Helsing. The startup views the Ukrainian market as essential and strategically important for its operations. The company plans to continue its long-term cooperation, highlighting its deep interest in joint development and implementation of advanced defense technologies.
