Fuel Prices Decrease in Ukraine: Detailed Market Overview and Influencing Factors

In mid-April 2026, a significant drop in wholesale fuel prices was recorded in the Ukrainian fuel market. According to monitoring data, the average price of gasoline decreased by nearly 1 hryvnia per liter, reaching approximately 66.22 UAH/l. Diesel fuel saw an even larger decrease of 3.91 UAH/l, bringing it down to 84.38 UAH/l. This trend is a noticeable reaction to the falling energy prices in the European market.

Changes in the Gas Station Market

Price adjustments at gas stations are currently less noticeable for end consumers. In recent days, the price of A-95 gasoline and diesel at gas stations has only dropped by a few kopecks, averaging 73.01 UAH/l and 91.25 UAH/l, respectively. The cost of liquefied gas has also decreased, but not as significantly as in the wholesale market.

Some operators have already responded to the new market situation. For instance, the Chipo network has significantly lowered gasoline prices, while companies UPG and “Avantage 7” have revised the cost of diesel fuel. However, most large networks are still hesitant to implement widespread price reductions.

“The main reason for such caution is the presence of fuel stocks purchased at higher prices, as well as existing import contracts. This temporarily restrains the possibility of significant price reductions for consumers.”

European Influence and Prospects for Consumers

One of the key factors behind the current price drop is the decrease in European quotations for energy resources. In particular, liquefied gas has fallen by more than 3,000 hryvnias per ton, which is equivalent to approximately 1.70 UAH/l. This creates conditions for further price reductions in the domestic market.

Analysts believe that, provided external markets remain stable, gas station prices in Ukraine will gradually decline. However, the pace of this process depends on the speed of stock replenishment and operators’ transition to cheaper resources.

It is worth noting that recently, global diesel fuel quotations reached a historical high due to the escalation of the situation in the Middle East. This factor may also influence price formation in the Ukrainian market in the near future.
