Prices for early cabbage have dropped by nearly 40% compared to last year
The current price of Ukrainian young white cabbage ranges from 30 to 38 UAH per kilogram (about $0.68–0.87/kg). This is 39% lower than the prices of the first batches of similar products during the same period in 2025. This trend is related to the overall decrease in market prices and increased competition between local and imported producers.
“As of today, local white cabbage from the 2026 harvest is being sold at prices of 30-38 UAH/kg ($0.68–0.87/kg), which is on average 39% cheaper than the first batches of this product during the same period last year”
Late start to the season and the impact of imported products
Experts note that this year, the season for selling early cabbage started about two weeks later than in 2025. The delay is due to a cold and prolonged spring, which affected the ripening times of vegetables in most regions of the country.
Imported cabbage from the new harvest, particularly from North Macedonia, is also available on the shelves of Ukrainian stores. The availability of local products has already led to a gradual decrease in prices for imports. Currently, cabbage from North Macedonia is being sold at an average price of 40 UAH per kilogram (about $0.91/kg).
At the same time, for the third consecutive week, an increase in wholesale prices for carrots has been recorded in the Ukrainian vegetable market. This is due to a decrease in the volumes of quality products and a reduction in supply.
