The National Bank of Ukraine has raised the exchange rate of the national currency against the US dollar for the second consecutive day. Despite this, the official exchange rate still exceeds the mark of 44 hryvnias per dollar.

Official exchange rate of the hryvnia and situation on the interbank market
According to the regulator’s decision, the official exchange rate has been set at 44 hryvnias and 8.03 kopecks per dollar as of March 17. Thus, the hryvnia has strengthened by 6 kopecks compared to the previous day. This is also 8 kopecks lower than the historical minimum of the hryvnia.
According to Bloomberg, trading on the Ukrainian interbank foreign exchange market on March 12 ended at 44 hryvnias and 5 kopecks per dollar.
Exchange rate dynamics since 2022
October 3, 2023, became historically significant when the dollar exchange rate changed for the first time after a long period of stability: since July 21, 2022, the official rate had been maintained at 36 hryvnias and 57 kopecks per dollar for over 14 months.
“The regulator set the rate at 44 hryvnias and 8.03 kopecks per dollar on March 17, which is 6 kopecks lower than the official rate today and 8 kopecks lower than the historical minimum of the hryvnia.”
