Electric Vehicles Dominate Among New Cars from China
Among new cars made in China, electric vehicles prevail — they account for 81% of all registered vehicles of this origin. Gasoline cars make up 10.6%, while hybrids represent 3.8%.
The most popular brand among new Chinese cars is BYD — in the first half of 2025, Ukrainians registered 1,719 such vehicles. The second position was taken by the brand Zeekr with 860 registrations, while Honda came in third with 838 cars registered. Although Honda has Japanese roots, the company produces some of its models in Chinese factories.
Situation in the Used Chinese Car Market
Regarding used passenger cars manufactured in China that were registered for the first time in Ukraine, the majority are also electric vehicles — over 85%. Gasoline models ranked second (11%), while hybrids accounted for about 4%.
In the used car segment, Zeekr emerged as the leader with 304 registrations. BYD took second place with 160 vehicles, while Tesla, produced at the Shanghai factory, rounded out the top three with 97 cars.
“In the first half of 2025, over 6,300 new and used cars manufactured in China were registered by Ukrainians.”
Thus, the Chinese automotive industry continues to strengthen its position in the Ukrainian market, especially in the electric vehicle segment, indicating a growing demand for eco-friendly transport among domestic drivers.
