Expanding Opportunities for Youth

As noted by Deputy Head of the President’s Office Pavlo Palisa, initially only a few brigades were included in the program. At the beginning, young volunteers could choose from six brigades. Over time, the number of available units increased to 33. Now, according to the new decision, the program encompasses the entire range of combat units of the Armed Forces, significantly expanding opportunities for those wishing to defend the country.

“We continue to expand ‘Contract 18-24’. At first, only a few brigades could be chosen, then the experiment was broadened, and now there is a decision to include all combat units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine!” — reported Palisa.

Main Conditions and Incentives of the Program

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the procedure for implementing the “Contract 18-24” project as a voluntary initiative for citizens aged 18-24. According to the rules, participants can sign a contract with a military unit for a term of one year. A mandatory condition is participation in combat operations for at least six months. The program also specifies a list of positions that young Ukrainians can sign contracts for, as well as offers a range of incentives for participants.

Thus, now every citizen of Ukraine aged 18 to 24 has the opportunity to choose any combat brigade for contract service and contribute to the defense of the state.
