Pension Dynamics in Dollars and Currency Exchange Rate Impact
In dollar terms, the average pension has also increased — by 15 dollars, reaching 153 US dollars. Since the beginning of the year, the official exchange rate of the hryvnia to the US dollar has decreased by 0.6%, which further influenced the growth of pensions in dollars.

Historical Pension Indicators: Growth Over the Years of Independence
According to state statistics, in 1997, the average pension amount was only 52 hryvnias. From then until 2025, the pension has increased by 124 times, reaching 6,410 hryvnias. During the same period, the dollar exchange rate rose from 1.9 to 41.8 hryvnias per dollar, which means an increase of 22 times. At the same time, the average pension in dollars increased from 27 to 153 dollars, which is a 5.6 times increase.
The most significant jump in pensions occurred in 2004: at that time, the average payment amount in dollars nearly doubled — from 34 to 60 dollars. However, after the onset of Russian aggression in 2014, the average pension decreased from 191 to 100 dollars.
