Payments for combatants and their families
As stated in the legislation, combatants (UBD) can receive a one-time financial assistance of 1,000 UAH. If the serviceman has special merits to Ukraine, the amount increases to 3,100 UAH. Veterans who have already retired receive this assistance along with their pension payment automatically, without the need for additional processing. For active military personnel, the application for payment is submitted through the military unit at their place of service.
Combatants who are not retired or have been discharged from service but remain capable and employed must contact the Pension Fund of Ukraine (PFU). Applications can be submitted in person, by mail, or online through the appropriate portal.
“The Law of Ukraine clearly states who among the UBD is entitled to financial assistance in honor of the holiday. Article 12 explains that every year, military personnel will receive a financial reward on Ukraine’s Independence Day. The payment amount is regulated by Kambin. Resolution No. 486 specifies the amount for 2025 – 1,000 UAH”.
Who else can expect financial support
A one-time financial assistance of 450 UAH will be provided to citizens who participated in the war against the National Socialist regime, as well as individuals who survived concentration camps or ghettos, or who worked in forced labor. The same amount is allocated for the children of partisans and underground fighters.
Families of deceased or passed-away war veterans, as well as family members of fallen Defenders of Ukraine, will receive 650 UAH each. The same support will be provided to the spouses of deceased individuals with disabilities due to the war, provided they are not in a second marriage.
Spouses of combatants who became victims of Nazi persecution can also expect 650 UAH if the disability arose from injury, illness, or other reasons, on the condition that they are not in a second marriage.
A payment of 1,000 UAH is designated not only for UBD but also for Ukrainians who suffered during the Revolution of Dignity, former minor prisoners of concentration camps or ghettos, as well as those born in places of forced detention.
Individuals with war-related disabilities will also receive payments: for the first group – 3,100 UAH, for the second – 2,900 UAH, for the third – 2,700 UAH. Support is also provided for individuals imprisoned in ghettos or concentration camps under the age of 14, regardless of the reason for their disability.
Thus, by Independence Day 2025, financial support will cover a wide range of Ukrainians who have suffered as a result of military actions, occupation, and political persecution.
