Where and Why There Is No Electricity on May 22: Situation in the Regions of Ukraine

On the morning of May 22, power outages were recorded in several regions of Ukraine affecting part of the population. The reasons were combat actions as well as shelling of energy infrastructure facilities. The most affected were the Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Kherson, and Kharkiv regions.

Work of Energy Workers and Repair Measures

Employees of energy companies are working in an intensified mode and are conducting restoration work around the clock. According to specialists, the main goal is to restore electricity supply to residents of the affected areas as quickly as possible.

Impact of Bad Weather and Recommendations for the Population

In addition to the consequences of combat actions, over 30 settlements in the Zhytomyr, Kyiv, and Cherkasy regions were left without electricity due to severe weather conditions. Energy workers are already working on eliminating damages and restoring electricity supply.

As of today, no electricity consumption restrictions are forecasted. However, to ensure a balanced load on the energy system, residents are advised to shift the active use of electrical appliances to daytime hours — from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. In the evening, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, it is advisable to conserve electricity to avoid overloading the system.

“Ukrainians can learn about any changes in the operation of the energy system through the official resources of their distribution system operators.”

It is important to keep track of updates and messages from electricity network operators to obtain current information about the state of electricity supply in your region.
