In the first quarter of 2025, nearly 809.9 million payment transactions were carried out in Ukraine, initiated through credit transfers and direct debits. This was reported by the press service of the National Bank of Ukraine.

“In Ukraine, services for executing credit and debit transfers in the first quarter of 2025 were provided by 60 banks and two non-bank financial institutions.”
According to the regulator’s data, only 0.5 million payment transactions were recorded, initiated via direct debit, totaling 2.92 billion hryvnias. At the same time, a significant portion consisted of credit transfers — 809.4 million transactions, of which:
- within Ukraine — 806.2 million totaling over 11,124.51 billion hryvnias;
- to Ukraine — nearly 2.7 million totaling 16.15 billion US dollars in equivalent;
- from Ukraine — nearly 0.5 million totaling 19.88 billion US dollars in equivalent.
Details on Transactions Within Ukraine
The largest share of credit transfers in Ukraine was executed from individual accounts — 664.0 million, accounting for 82.36% of the total number of relevant payment transactions. In terms of amount, the most credit transfers were made from business accounts — 10,303.33 billion hryvnias, or 92.62% of the total amount.
Cross-Border Credit Transfers
During this period, 76.92% of the total number of credit transfers to individuals in Ukraine from abroad exceeded 2 million transactions. In terms of amount, businesses led — 94.90% of credit transfers were received for the benefit of economic entities under foreign economic contracts, totaling 15.32 billion US dollars in equivalent.
The largest funds to Ukraine came from EU countries (45.25%), Switzerland (22.35%), and the United States of America (10.84%). Regarding credit transfers from Ukraine, the largest volume is also made by businesses under foreign economic contracts: nearly 0.3 million totaling 19.79 billion US dollars in equivalent, which accounts for 56.16% of the total number and 99.55% of the total amount of such payment transactions.
Geographically, the largest funds were received by EU countries (58.29%), Switzerland (10.87%), and the United Kingdom (8.02%).
It is worth noting that according to the National Bank, during the period of the 150,000 hryvnias monthly limit, there was an abnormal spike in the volume of transfers between individual accounts (P2P transfers), while previously, up to 200 billion hryvnias per year could allegedly pass through “drop” cards. However, the regulator does not provide specific amounts and calculations regarding the effectiveness of the restrictions.
