Ukrainian Security Service Drones Attack Oil Station in Samara Region Causing Large Fire

In the Samara region of the Russian Federation, drones from the Special Operations Center “Alpha” of the Security Service of Ukraine carried out an attack on the oil station “Samara,” located in the settlement of Prosvet. As a result of the strike on the facility, where high- and low-sulfur oil is mixed for export under the Urals brand, a significant fire broke out.

Damage to Tanks and Impact on Russian Oil Exports

According to preliminary information, the drones damaged five tanks, each with a capacity of 20,000 cubic meters, containing crude oil. This has significantly affected the operation of the station, which is a key hub in the system of main oil pipelines, particularly the “Druzhba,” where oil flows converge from various regions of the Russian Federation.

“Strikes on such key stations directly reduce Russia’s ability to form export batches of oil and fulfill contractual obligations. The balance of raw materials is disrupted, logistics and storage costs increase, and there are risks of supply disruptions. As a result, Russia receives increasingly less revenue from oil sales that it can direct towards the war against Ukraine,” a source in the Security Service noted.

Meanwhile, the Telegram channel ASTRA reported an attack on railway tracks near a military unit in the Rostov region on the night of April 21. Regarding the situation in the Samara region, the channel noted that NASA’s fire monitoring system did not detect any flare-ups near the “Samara” station.

Increase in Attacks on Russian Oil and Gas Infrastructure

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced the neutralization of 97 Ukrainian aircraft-type drones over several regions of Russia, including Samara, as well as over the Black Sea. Recently, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported strikes on two oil refineries in the Samara region – the “Novokuybyshevsk” and “Syzran” refineries, where large fires also broke out.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia, energy infrastructure facilities in the territory of the Russian Federation have regularly been subjected to air strikes. In 2024 and 2025, oil refineries have frequently become targets of attacks, although strikes are also carried out on Russian facilities in the occupied territories of Ukraine.

Most of these attacks have been confirmed by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which emphasized that the Defense Forces are systematically taking actions aimed at reducing the combat potential of the Russian occupation forces and forcing Russia to cease its armed aggression against Ukraine.
