The Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the primary oil processing facilities at the Yaroslavl Oil Refinery located in Yaroslavl, Russia. According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, this refinery is a key facility for supplying fuel to the Russian army – it produces gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel necessary for the logistics of the Russian troops.

Fire at the Plant in Astrakhan Region
The General Staff also confirmed damage to the infrastructure of the “Astrakhan” gas processing plant in the Astrakhan region of Russia. As a result of the attack, a fire broke out on the premises, which was extinguished over several hours. According to the governor of the region, there were no casualties or injuries among the plant workers.
Ukrainian military officials emphasize that this enterprise plays an important role in the gas transportation and fuel infrastructure of the aggressor state and meets the needs of the Russian military-industrial complex. Currently, the extent of the damage is being clarified.
Reaction from the Russian Side
The governor of the Yaroslavl region, Mikhail Evraev, confirmed the incident, stating that a “fragment of a downed UAV” hit an industrial facility in Yaroslavl. He also noted that there were no injuries.
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that during the previous night, 286 Ukrainian drones were allegedly neutralized over various regions of Russia, including Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Kursk, Rostov, Tambov, Ryazan, Astrakhan regions, Krasnodar Krai, the Republic of Kalmykia, temporarily occupied Crimea, as well as over the waters of the Azov and Black Seas.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed most of the attacks, stating that the Ukrainian Defense Forces are “systematically implementing measures aimed at reducing the combat potential of the Russian occupation forces, as well as forcing the Russian Federation to cease its armed aggression against Ukraine.”
Since the beginning of the large-scale invasion, energy sector facilities in Russia have regularly been subjected to airstrikes. The highest number of attacks in 2024-2025 has been recorded specifically against oil refineries. Strikes are also being carried out on Russian facilities in temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
