Reasons for the Increase in Electricity Imports
According to Vitaliy Zaychenko, market conditions are favorable for increasing import volumes. Currently, Europe is experiencing holiday days, which has led to a decrease in electricity prices, allowing Ukraine to purchase it under more favorable conditions. This step helps ensure stable electricity supply for consumers amid limited domestic resources.
“Imports have increased nearly twofold compared to last week, which also helps ensure consumers have access to electricity. The conditions of the Ukrainian and European markets favor the purchase of electricity in Europe, where there are currently holidays and electricity prices are decreasing,” said Zaychenko.
Energy Supply Situation in the Regions
The head of “Ukrenergo” noted that electricity outage schedules are in effect in Ukraine, covering from 1 to 3.5 shifts depending on the specific region. The most challenging situation is observed in frontline and border areas. The situation is particularly tense in the controlled areas of Donetsk, where three attacks on critical infrastructure using guided aerial bombs (KABs) were recorded within a day.
Additionally, the situation in Odesa remains severe. However, energy workers have managed to restore electricity supply for most residents of Odesa.
Zaychenko warned about Russia’s preparations for a new massive attack on Ukraine’s energy system. According to him, since the beginning of autumn, massive strikes on energy facilities have occurred approximately every ten days, necessitating the implementation of emergency outages.
