Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that the government is preparing decisions regarding additional funding for the army and the implementation of new economic measures. He made this statement in his evening address on April 21.

State Support for the Army and Economy
According to Zelensky, discussions took place during the day with Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov and the command of the Armed Forces regarding the motivation of military personnel. The President emphasized the importance of staffing units and the need for additional funding for the defense sector. Zelensky highlighted that the relevant decisions are already in the process of being prepared.
“There are things that need to be done for greater motivation of our military – both in terms of staffing units and additional funding for the army. Decisions are being prepared.”
Strategic Approach to Economic Development
In addition to defense issues, the president also announced additional agreements with Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko and Minister of Economy Sobolev. In the near future, new economic measures are planned to be defined, aimed at strengthening the state and improving the living standards of citizens in the challenging conditions of war. Zelensky stressed the importance of a strategic and systematic approach so that Ukraine can rely more on its own resources.
This includes updating the tax strategy, combating the shadow economy, as well as providing “real support for Ukrainians and Ukrainian businesses.” The President emphasized that these initiatives will allow society to live with greater dignity even in a state of war.
Additionally, it was previously reported that the International Monetary Fund has shown understanding regarding the sensitivity of the issue of implementing VAT for individual entrepreneurs (FOPs), indicating that the interests of small businesses are being taken into account during the reforms.
