Deepening Energy Partnership

A special emphasis during the negotiations was placed on implementing the agreements reached by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in the fields of energy and security in the Black Sea region. According to Denys Shmyhal, both countries have significant potential for developing cooperation at both the official level and between Ukrainian and Turkish companies.

“Particular attention is paid to the implementation of the agreements reached between President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan regarding energy partnership and strengthening security in the Black Sea region. We have significant potential for deepening cooperation at both the intergovernmental level and between our companies”

New Gas Supply Route and Joint Development of Fields

Ukraine expressed interest in creating an alternative route for gas supply using its own gas transportation system and underground storage facilities. As Shmyhal noted, the implementation of this project will ensure up to 5 billion cubic meters of gas annually not only for Ukraine but also for Central and Eastern European countries. Currently, the commercial and technical model of this initiative is being developed.

A separate topic of discussion was the prospects for the joint development of gas fields in the Black Sea. Such a partnership could significantly enhance energy security and promote the development of economic ties between Ukraine and Turkey.

It is worth noting that both countries intend to deepen economic cooperation and increase the volume of bilateral trade to 10 billion US dollars.
