Ukraine and Bosnia and Herzegovina signed an agreement on transport visa-free travel starting in 2027

Starting January 1, 2027, an agreement on the liberalization of freight transportation between Ukraine and Bosnia and Herzegovina will come into effect. From now on, bilateral and transit freight transportation between these countries will be carried out without the need for permits.

Liberalization of transportation and increase in quotas

The agreement was reached during the first meeting of the Joint Commission on International Road Transport, which took place in Sarajevo with the participation of representatives from the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine. Before the full launch of the “transport visa-free travel,” the parties agreed to increase the quota of permits for freight transportation by the end of 2026, which is expected to provide more stable conditions for carriers during the transition period.

Significance of the agreements for business and integration

“The agreement on ‘transport visa-free travel’ with Bosnia and Herzegovina is another step towards simplifying international logistics, supporting exports, and integrating Ukraine into the European transport space,” noted Oleksii Kuleba, Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine and Minister of Community and Territorial Development.

According to government officials, additional quotas for transportation this year will contribute to a more stable and predictable business environment. It is expected that liberalization will reduce the administrative burden on carriers, simplify logistics processes, and positively impact Ukraine’s export potential.

Bosnia and Herzegovina has become the 36th country with which Ukraine has liberalized freight transportation conditions, indicating Ukraine’s gradual integration into the European transport space.
