Restoration of Ferry Services and Expansion of Capabilities
According to Ukraine’s ambassador to Azerbaijan, Yuriy Husev, in 2025, with the support of “Ukrzaliznytsia,” the first ferry services from Ukraine to the South Caucasus were organized since the beginning of the full-scale war. The diplomat emphasized that this significantly expands the opportunities for delivering Ukrainian goods to Azerbaijan and also ensures the effective transportation of Azerbaijani products to Ukraine.
“This year, with the support of ‘Ukrzaliznytsia,’ the first (since the full-scale invasion) ferry services from Ukraine to the South Caucasus took place,” said the diplomat.
The Trans-Caspian Route as a Strategic Bridge Between East and West
Husev stressed that the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route is crucial for connecting the Chinese market with European countries. It runs through Central Asia, the South Caucasus, and Ukraine, creating an effective bridge for the movement of goods to the EU.
The diplomat noted Azerbaijan’s strategic location, which makes the country a key partner in expanding this transport direction. The ambassador emphasized that the development of transit infrastructure and the increase of the Trans-Caspian route’s capabilities are pressing tasks that contribute to strengthening the partnership between Kyiv and Baku.
