Trump on the position regarding Iran
The head of the White House emphasized that his skepticism about Iran’s proposals is based on the belief that Tehran has not yet faced adequate consequences for the crimes committed over the past decades. Trump stated that he plans to review the document soon, but already doubts its acceptability.
“I will soon review the plan that Iran just sent us, but I cannot imagine that it will be acceptable, as the Iranian side has not yet paid a sufficiently high price for what it has inflicted on humanity and the world over the past 47 years. Thank you for your attention to this issue,” wrote the U.S. president.
Recent events surrounding the U.S.-Iran conflict
On May 1, the White House announced the end of the war with Iran, notifying the U.S. Congress in a letter that hostilities had “ceased.” At the same time, the Pentagon acknowledged at the end of April that Russia is providing support to Iran in the conflict with the U.S.
Also, on April 30, it became known that the U.S. authorities are considering the possibility of resuming large-scale military operations against Iran. This is explained as an attempt to shift the negotiation process or deliver a decisive blow ahead of the official end of the war.
