The US Will Not Sign an Agreement with Russia on Minerals, – Podolyak

Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Mykhailo Podolyak assures that the US will not sign an agreement with Russia regarding minerals, as these countries are competitors on the global stage.

“Russia will certainly not give the US anything that would significantly enhance American influence in the relevant sectors. This concerns aerospace, telecommunications, and so on. Russia wants to have substantial influence on global markets through these tools,”

Podolyak noted.

He added that for Russia, it is more important to maintain and strengthen its geopolitical influence than to gain personal financial benefits. This is precisely why Russia initiated the war against Ukraine.

Podolyak also emphasized that Ukraine, unlike Russia, is interested in a strategic partnership with the United States. Currently, discussions around the agreement are ongoing at various levels. He highlighted that an agreement with the US could be beneficial for both sides: Kyiv needs technology and investment, while Washington, in turn, would have the opportunity to significantly increase its share in the relevant global markets.
