Strengthening Sanctions Policy on the Russian Oil Industry

According to UK Finance Minister Rachel Reeves, London is deliberately increasing pressure on the Russian oil sector, which remains one of the main sources of revenue for the Russian budget. In particular, key enterprises and dozens of tankers used to transport Russian oil to circumvent previously imposed restrictions have been sanctioned.

Pressure on Intermediary Countries and Calls to End the War

The British government is paying special attention to companies from third countries, such as India and China, that support Russian oil exports. The Finance Minister emphasized that official London is taking steps to complicate the supply chains of Russian oil to global markets and expand the range of restrictive measures against participants in these chains.

We are imposing targeted sanctions against Russia’s two largest oil companies – Lukoil and Rosneft, – said UK Finance Minister Rachel Reeves during her visit to the United States.

Rachel Reeves also stressed that Russia should not have the ability to influence global energy markets and underscored the UK’s determination to continue its sanctions policy to end the Russian-Ukrainian war.
