The United States has completed preparations for another sanctions package against the Russian Federation. The US Congress and the White House are ready to approve new restrictions, which have been named the Russian Sanctions Act 2025. This was announced by the US Special Representative for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg.

“The project is called the Russian Sanctions Act 2025. And I think Graham has already prepared them and is ready to implement them,” Kellogg said.
According to Kellogg, the new sanctions will be “quite burdensome” for Russia. The main blow is expected to target the petrochemical industry, which remains a key source of revenue for Russia. He emphasized that this sector will be the primary target of American restrictions to complicate the financing of Moscow’s aggressive actions as much as possible.
US Sanctions as a Tool of Pressure
At the same time, the US president is not rushing to impose sanctions against Russia immediately. As White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt emphasized, Donald Trump views these sanctions as one of the possible tools in his arsenal and may apply them if he considers it a necessary step to achieve strategic goals.
Coordination with Europe and Ukraine’s Position
The head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, emphasized that the new US sanctions package should be coordinated with measures from the European Union. According to him, coordinated actions by allies will significantly enhance the effectiveness of pressure on the Russian Federation.
Yermak is convinced that the simultaneous implementation of sanctions by the US and the EU could become a significant lever of influence on the Kremlin. He noted that only tangible economic losses compel the Russian leadership to consider ending military aggression against Ukraine and returning to negotiations.
