“Ukrnafta” Will Serve as a Benchmark for Fair Pricing

Yulia Svyrydenko highlighted that the state company “Ukrnafta” will act as a price benchmark for the market. This is intended to serve as a safeguard against unjustified price fluctuations that are not related to real changes in global markets.

“I held a meeting with key representatives of the oil products market. We coordinated further actions regarding the current situation in the fuel market, which has predominantly external causes. Our joint task is to ensure a continuous supply of fuel in the country. The government expects that market operators — both the state company “Ukrnafta” and private companies — will ensure adequate fuel supply to the market and its stable availability for consumers throughout the country,” Svyrydenko wrote on her Telegram channel.

The head of the government also pointed out that fuel prices should be formed transparently, taking into account the situation in global markets. However, internal speculation must be excluded.

Price Monitoring and Support for Vulnerable Consumers

Svyrydenko reported that regulatory bodies, including the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine and the State Consumer Service, need to strengthen the monitoring of the price situation. At the same time, she noted that it is important to avoid creating undue pressure on honest businesses.

The First Deputy Prime Minister — Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal has been tasked with organizing daily coordination with participants in the fuel market based at the Ministry of Energy. This will allow for the prompt resolution of current issues arising in the operations of the operators.

Additionally, Minister of Economy Oleksiy Sobolev, together with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Energy, is working on developing targeted support models for those categories of consumers who may be most affected by significant increases in fuel prices.
