Details of the verdict and grounds for the charges

The court established that after the Revolution of Dignity, the former MP from the banned “Party of Regions” moved to Russia, where she systematically supported the aggressor country. According to the prosecution, Povaliy participated in propaganda events, justified armed aggression against Ukraine, and actively spread anti-Ukrainian narratives.

“She participated in propaganda events, justified armed aggression against Ukraine, and spread anti-Ukrainian narratives (part 6 of article 111-1, article 436, part 3 of article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)”.

According to the verdict, Povaliy was sentenced to 12 years of imprisonment, a ban on holding certain positions for 15 years, and the confiscation of all her property in favor of the state. In particular, the state acquired property rights to the singer’s musical works.

Confiscation of assets and further measures

In 2024, the High Anti-Corruption Court decided to seize Povaliy’s assets for the benefit of the state, including land plots and real estate in the Kyiv region, vehicles, weapons, and property rights to nine musical works. In 2025, these rights were officially registered in the name of the state of Ukraine.

In February 2024, the Security Service of Ukraine notified Povaliy in absentia of suspicion of committing crimes against the state. According to the investigation, on the eve of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, the singer moved to Russia, obtained Russian citizenship, and publicly supported the war against Ukraine.

In January 2023, in an interview with Russian media, Povaliy openly expressed support for Russian President Vladimir Putin and the aggressive policies of the Russian Federation towards Ukraine. As of May 2026, Taisia Povaliy had not publicly commented on the verdict of the Ukrainian court.
