On May 1, Russian troops launched a massive attack on Ternopil using drones. An air alert was declared in the city, and residents heard a series of explosions.

The service in the church continued despite the shelling
During the attack, a liturgy was taking place in one of the Ternopil churches. The published video shows that neither the worshippers nor the clergy interrupted the service despite the loud explosions. The participants of the service remained calm and continued to pray, undeterred by the threat.
“Drivers will take passengers to the nearest stops. We ask everyone to immediately proceed to the nearest shelters nearby.”
The scale of the attack’s consequences and power outages
As a result of the strikes, public transport in Ternopil was temporarily suspended. This was reported by the city mayor, Serhiy Nadal, who urged residents to move to shelters as soon as possible. Additionally, due to the large-scale attack, some regions were left without electricity.
Massive strikes by Russian drones were recorded not only in Ternopil region. The aggressor’s drones crossed the Ukrainian border from the east and south, attacking Sumy, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, and Ternopil regions. Kharkiv also came under fire on that day in several districts of the city.
Earlier, it was reported about a casualty in Odesa after an enemy strike. In the Khadzhybei district, several residential high-rises were damaged. In the Izmail district, the Russian Federation attacked port infrastructure, but there were no casualties.
