Key Directions for Stabilizing the Energy System

During the negotiations, several priority directions were identified to strengthen energy security. Among them is the increase of technical capabilities for importing electricity into Ukraine, which involves the rapid implementation of interstate interconnectors with European Union countries.

Particular attention was given to improving electricity transmission from western regions to the east, including the repair and expansion of networks to reduce outage periods in the most problematic areas. It is also planned to simplify bureaucratic procedures and reporting through already implemented digital solutions, allowing for quick and effective crisis response decisions.

Emergency Repairs and Protection of Energy Facilities

Another priority is close cooperation with the State Special Transport Service for the emergency repair and restoration of power grids and substations in areas near the front line. There is a specific emphasis on the need to enhance the protection of these facilities using special shelters, electronic warfare means, and air defense systems.

Additionally, among the tasks is the maximum simplification of connecting distributed generation, including cogeneration units and powerful generators, to promptly supply regions with electricity shortages.

“Every megawatt is crucial for the Ukrainian energy system right now. This pertains to both the return to operation of facilities damaged by Russian strikes and the commissioning of new generating capacities,” noted Denys Shmyhal.
