Details of the Corruption Scheme
According to established facts, the organizer of the scheme was the chief of staff of the military unit, who acted together with his brother — the head of one of the subdivisions, as well as an assistant. The accomplices forged documents indicating that the servicemen were supposedly in combat zones. Thus, from March to June 2024, the participants in the scheme managed to obtain nearly 8 million hryvnias from the state budget.
Legal Consequences for the Involved Parties
The organizers and accomplices have already been officially notified of suspicion under articles concerning abuse of office and official forgery (part 2 of article 28, part 2 of article 364, part 2 of article 28, part 1 of article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Currently, the issue of choosing a preventive measure and temporary suspension from their positions is being resolved.
“As a result, the state lost nearly 8 million hryvnias”.
According to the legislation, the individuals involved in this case may face up to 6 years of imprisonment.
