The Security Service of Ukraine has brought a new suspicion against former MP Yevhen Murayev, announcing this on May 11. According to the agency, Murayev, who led the banned political party “Ours,” continued to actively spread pro-Russian propaganda even after the start of the full-scale invasion of Russia.

Details of the suspicion and Murayev’s actions
The investigation established that while abroad, Murayev gave an interview in which he referred to Russia’s war against Ukraine as an “internal civil conflict.” In addition, he spread false information about the situation in Ukraine, called on citizens to lay down their arms before the Russian military, and justified the temporary occupation of part of Ukrainian territories.
“Yes, while hiding abroad, he gave an interview in which he called the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine an ‘internal civil conflict.’ The former MP also spread fakes about the internal situation in Ukraine, urged its citizens to lay down their arms before the Rashists, and justified the temporary seizure of part of our state’s territory,” the statement said.
The SBU also reports that before the ban on the channel “Ours,” which belonged to Murayev, he used this media resource to spread disinformation regarding the socio-political situation in the country in the interests of Russia. Expertise confirmed the facts of Murayev’s information-subversive activities in favor of the aggressor country.
In absentia suspicion and further actions of the investigation
Law enforcement agencies have informed Murayev in absentia of the suspicion under the article that provides for responsibility for justifying, recognizing as lawful, denying the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, and glorifying its participants. Comprehensive measures are underway to hold the individual accountable.
The former parliamentarian has not yet commented on the new suspicion. It is known that Murayev is already wanted for another case — for treason and incitement of national enmity. If found guilty, he could face up to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
In March 2024, the Security Service completed the pre-trial investigation in the case of Murayev’s treason and submitted the materials to the court. The Eighth Administrative Court of Appeal in Lviv had already ruled in June last year to ban the activities of the “Ours” party. In February of the same year, the National Security and Defense Council imposed sanctions against the “Ours” channel. Murayev himself called these sanctions a “crime.”
After the start of the full-scale invasion of Russia, Murayev left the territory of Ukraine.
