“During the night attack, the enemy used a combined tactic. The facility was first attacked by drones. About an hour later, the Russians launched a second strike with missiles”

Emergency services are working on-site to assess the extent of the damage. Preliminary reports indicate that there are no casualties as a result of the shelling.

Safety measures and the current situation in the energy system

The Chairman of the Board of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine, Serhiy Koretskyi, emphasized that such attacks demonstrate Russia’s intention to inflict maximum damage not only to infrastructure facilities but also to the people involved in eliminating the consequences and restoration efforts. He recalled the tragic event on May 5, when employees of the company and rescuers from the State Emergency Service were killed during a similar attack.

Following the recent shelling, the Naftogaz Group has significantly revised its security policy and strengthened response protocols during the elimination of the consequences of attacks, which allows for a substantial reduction in risks for employees working at critical infrastructure facilities.

As of the morning of June 2, due to the massive missile attack, consumers in Kyiv and six other regions of Ukraine remain without power.
