Bad Weather Leaves Over 30 Settlements Without Power
In addition to the consequences of hostile attacks, large-scale power outages have been recorded in three regions of Ukraine due to severe weather conditions. In particular, in Kyiv, Cherkasy, and Zhytomyr regions, over 30 settlements were left completely or partially without electricity due to thunderstorms and heavy rains. Repair teams from the regional energy companies are already working to restore power lines damaged by the weather.
Recommendations for Consumers Regarding Electricity Use
As of 09:30 on May 22, electricity consumption in Ukraine is at a seasonal level and does not exceed the figures from the previous day. The system operator recommends that residents of the country take weather conditions into account when planning the use of electrical appliances to reduce the load on the grid during the evening hours. Citizens are advised to shift active energy consumption to the period of maximum operation of solar power plants — from 10:00 to 16:00, and in the evening hours, from 18:00 to 22:00, to avoid turning on several high-power electrical appliances at the same time.
“As a result of drone and artillery strikes, there are new power outages in Sumy, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions as of the morning. Wherever security conditions currently allow, emergency recovery work has already begun,” the message states.
According to the information available as of May 22, there are no plans for electricity consumption restrictions on Friday.
