Orban’s Claims Regarding the Pipeline and Policy
In his address, Orban noted that for four years Ukraine has not recognized the position of the Hungarian people regarding the war between Russia and Ukraine, and accused Kyiv of attempting to draw Budapest into the conflict. Orban added that Brussels, together with the Hungarian opposition, seems to be coordinating efforts to establish a government in Hungary that would support Ukraine.
The Prime Minister paid special attention to the issue of the Druzhba pipeline. According to Orban, Zelensky is allegedly involved in its blockage, which poses a threat to the stable supply of energy resources to Hungary.
Main Points of the Hungarian Prime Minister’s Address
“We, the Hungarian people, are not responsible for the situation Ukraine finds itself in. We sympathize with the Ukrainian people, but we do not wish to participate in the war. We do not want to finance military actions and do not want to pay more for energy. I urge you to immediately restore the operation of the Druzhba pipeline,” Orban wrote.
Viktor Orban emphasized the desire to avoid Hungary’s involvement in the military conflict and highlighted the necessity of ensuring stable energy resource supplies for his country. The Prime Minister called on the Ukrainian side for constructive dialogue regarding energy cooperation and security.
